Located on the first floor of a traditional 1930’s Arab house, with its arched façade overlooking Zahra Street in the heart of Jerusalem’s commercial centre, al Hoash is a non-profit Palestinian cultural organization established in 2004 with the mission “To provide and sustain a knowledge based platform for Palestinians to express, explore, realize and strengthen their national and cultural identity through visual practice."
We seek the development and elevation of art in recognition of its role in development, free will and expression of people and also as a constituent and representative of national and cultural identity through innovative approaches. Thanks to the implementation of a wide range of programs and activities, Al Hoash has won itself a reputation for innovation and as a prominent player in the Palestinian art scene. We believe that through high quality professional work and local and international collaboration we can contribute to reviving, enriching and developing the cultural landscape in Palestine.
We pursue efforts to remain a leading Palestinian art institute that is research based, critically driven, community linked, educational, collaborative and open to the public and wherein visual culture and knowledge can be produced, acquired, researched, conserved, interpreted, communicated and exhibited. We maintain local roots while reaching out globally through regional and international partnerships.
